Soulcraft
Handcraft
It is an old practice using our hands, but something many of us has lost in a convention of convenience.
In ” The wall of San Arte”, Elena Barnabe says, “Our hands are the antennas of our soul”, ‘s mean that our hands and soul are deeply connected.
Our minds head off on a journey of threads, reeds, colours, soil while we move our hands by knitting, cooking, painting, playing, writing or sinking them into the earth.
When your thoughts focus on creating something beautiful, something we tend to be much more wonder of than anything bought in a shop, we send a sign of care to the deepest part of ourselves. At this moment, our soul lights up because we are paying attention to it.
Using our hands for handcraft, we can turn our life into something magical, restorative, and rewarding; we create a protected and safe space.
Guiding principle
The guiding principle in my handcrafting is to take from nature and not harm it, keep the balance, listen, and weave the heart while creating.
When I enter the forest, I ask for permission. I greet the water. I believe that everything created by Mother Earth is alive and has a soul, so I talk to each stone, piece of wood, a mineral that I want to use to make my jewellery. When I get permission, I transform them into a magical masterpiece.
In soulcraft, I use natural components, thanks to our Mother Earth: Birds, plants seeds, the bark of trees, porcupines spines, fish shells and bones, teeth, driftwood, jute, hemp ropes, cotton, coconut shells, herbs, minerals, bamboo, seagrass, wood.
